Welcome To Victorian Institute of Yoga Education and Teacher Training. “VIYETT”.
The aim of the VIYETT organization is to provide you with excellence in Yoga Education and Training and also to guide you through an inspiring journey of the classical traditions and teachings of the science of Yoga. At VIYETT we offer a variety of courses that are designed to meet the needs of individuals who would like to study Yoga for "Personal" or “Professional” interests. Yoga is a path to help each one of us reach our highest human potential, physically, mentally emotionally, and spiritually. It is a path that allows us to move beyond the mundane existence and find an abundance of peace and joy in just “being”. So weather you want to study Yoga to assist you on your own personal journey or become a professional Yoga Teacher our courses will provide you with all of the knowledge you need to help you on your journey.
The Yoga Studies course has been designed for students of yoga who want to gain deeper insight and have a broader understanding of the practical and philosophical implications of Yoga. The Diploma and the Advanced Diploma of Yoga Teaching has been designed for students of Yoga who would like to teach Yoga as a Profession.
All of the courses offered at VIYETT are accredited by Yoga Australia (formerly the YTAA)
Maya Hansajati (Director of Studies) is accredited with Yoga Australia. Senior Level 3 Yoga Teacher/Trainer.
YOGA COURSES 2013-2014
· YOGA STUDIES (1 Year)
· DIPLOMA OF YOGA TEACHING (1 Year)
· ADVANCED DIPLOMA OF YOGA TEACHING (2 Years)
· DISTANCE EDUCATION
All of the courses offered at VIYETT are designed to compliment each other. Each course streams into the next higher level allowing students to gain credits for studies previously completed. For example a students who successfully completes the Yoga Studies Program will be automatically be eligible to enter the Advanced Diploma of Yoga Teaching at 2nd Year level. Students who successfully complete the Diploma of Yoga Teaching course and want to complete further studies will be admitted to the Advanced Diploma of Yoga at 2nd year level.
STUDY OPTIONS
Courses are conducted during the daytime one day each week
Weekend Training: Saturdays 1/2 Day each Saturday or 1 full day per fortnight
Study via Distance Learning (Yoga Studies or Diploma of Yoga Teaching)

YOGA STUDIES
Hatha Yoga Practitioners Certificate (I Year)
This is a 1 Year part-time course comprised of approx 500 hours of course contact time and home study. This course is designed for individuals who would like to gain deeper knowledge and insight into the traditional practices of Yoga. Yoga is a science of life and a path that promotes physical, mental, emotional and spiritual wellbeing. Students undertaking Yoga Studies may do so for their own personal development without the need to commit to becoming a Yoga Teacher. On successful completion of this course students will be awarded with a “VIYETT Hatha Yoga Practitioners Certificate” and will gain full credit for entry into the second year of the Advanced Diploma of Yoga Teaching if they wish to undertake further studies. Students will also be qualified to work as a Teaching Assistant in a Yoga school environment under supervision.

DIPLOMA OF YOGA TEACHING
Intensive 1 year Training Program
The VIYETT Diploma of Yoga Teaching is a 1 year Teacher Training Course comprised of 500 hours of course contact and home study. It is an intensive course covering all of the vital aspects of Yoga. It is designed to provide the participant with a broad range of skills that will enhance ones own personal practice and spiritual understanding and will provide participants with a good understanding of the science and philosophies required for Yoga Teaching. The Diploma of Yoga Teaching will provide trainees with all of the necessary tools to become a Professional Yoga Teacher (Level 1). Upon successful completion of this course graduates will be awarded with the “VIYETT Diploma of Yoga Teaching” and will be eligible for a Yoga Teaching membership with a professional body.

ADVANCED DIPLOMA OF YOGA TEACHING
The VIYETT Advanced Diploma of Yoga Teaching is a 2 year intensive Teacher Training Program. This course is designed to build on the skills and knowledge acquired through previous training and explores more in depth knowledge and advanced practices. This course will provide participants with a solid foundation in the theory and practice of all aspects of Hatha Yoga together with gaining a high level of competence in the science and philosophies associated with Teaching Yoga. Upon successful completion of this course graduates will be awarded with the “VIYETT Advanced Diploma of Yoga Teaching” and will become eligible for a Teaching Membership with a professional body.

Course Outcomes
The aim of the VIYETT Yoga Teacher Training courses is to develop competent and highly skilled Yoga Teachers who are equipped to guide students safely and effectively through all disciplines relating to the practice of yoga. The courses are designed to guide trainees through the basic foundations of a classical yoga system to the more advanced practices and philosophies ultimately leading to Yoga teaching principles and practices that will equip the trainee with the necessary skills to instruct others in the practice of yoga with a high degree of confidence and sensitivity.
The VIYETT Diploma and Advanced Diploma of Yoga Teaching courses are designed in such a way that you will gain all the necessary skills to plan and conduct yoga classes and deliver these classes in a number of different settings to a diverse range of people seeking the benefits of yoga.
On completion of the course graduates will have attained a high level of competency in all aspects of yoga teaching and philosophy based on in depth experience and understanding of the meaning and processes that constitute the practice of yoga.
The teachings are deeply embedded in the classical systems of Yoga with emphasis on the major paths, the philosophical and scientific methods and the different styles of Yoga. These teachings are integrated into a contemporary style of Yoga yet maintaining all of the classical elements of the Yoga tradition.
