I've been attending Zen in the City online courses for a year. I was introduced to this community through a membership gift, and it's truly been a life-changing experience, even though I'm still a beginner. I appreciate the expertise of Paolo Subioli and his collaborator Paola Viola, who manage to engage you with clarity and simplicity in meditation techniques, supported by readings from ancient masters. I particularly enjoy the in-person sessions, held in beautiful, peaceful spaces where you can connect with nature and the group of participants through sharing experiences, but also through the voice of silence that helps you open up to yourself and others. Thanks to Paolo and Paola.

I just returned from the retreat organized by Zen in the City at the charming Poor Clare convent in Fara in Sabina. It was two intense days of meditation practice and silence in the splendor of nature. Listening to oneself and others; practicing deep, non-judgmental listening; trying to live even the simplest daily gestures with awareness. Thank you, Paolo and Paola, for organizing and caring for all of us. Thank you to all my retreat companions for being there.

For many years, Paolo Subioli of 'Zen in the City' maintained a highly engaging mailing list through which one could receive texts from various authors on Buddhism. Now, Paolo, with the active contribution of Paola Viola, has taken a major step forward by creating a genuine community of practitioners, a vital asset for those without practice groups nearby. Among other things, he has implemented on the site the possibility of developing a personal meditation program, all in a mix of contributions from diverse backgrounds, both secular and open.

Returning from a short retreat in Sabina, a harmonious time, a necessary psusa to better discern myself and the world. Many suggestions, inspired by different meditative practices. Thanks to Paolo and Paola, who guided us with loving kindness. Federica

I attended the retreat from October 3-5, 2025, and it did not disappoint. I've known and appreciated the "paoli" training for several years. It was a well-structured, "silent" retreat.
