We learned ashtanga yoga (primary series) for 3 weeks doing the 630am class. The shala is located in their family home on the top floor, it's a clean and calming space. It's a father and son who teach, I can honestly say I have never been adjusted or seen these types of adjustments in yoga before. After a few classes they understood where my weakness was and which postures I had difficulty with, and they would always come and adjust me in unique ways that allowed me to get deeper into the stretch. Tip, when being adjusted always remember to breath calmy, don't tense up or be stiff. It's not a big shala and the class size is small, which we prefer because it allows the teacher to spend more time with me. Of all the schools we went for Ashtanga in Mysore, this school was the one we liked the most because they spent a good amount of time each session working with you. Harish and Sheshadri are both easy to connect with, they are happy to answer questions after the class and give a great vibe.

I had a truly special experience practicing here. Harish’s asana assists were exceptional and unlike anything I have experienced before. They were precise, supportive, and deeply respectful. Practicing on the rooftop shala was beautiful, and the energy of the space felt clean, calm, and full of gratitude. Harish is incredibly kind, attentive, and genuinely supportive throughout the practice. With Sheshadri, I practiced pranayama, and his presence alone is inspiring. His deep knowledge, grounded energy, and open heart made the teachings feel profound yet very accessible. I learned so much in a way no other teacher has been able to convey to me before. What touched me most was the atmosphere overall. It feels personal, individual, and very welcoming. I felt truly seen and supported and am deeply grateful for these teachings. I will definitely come back!

After all this years without coming to Mysore I feel blessed to be at Pavy shala with this great masters. Excellent adjustments to improve your inner strenth and flexibility. Hardly recomended. After Pathabi Jois, and later Sharath, passed away; I thought I will never feel again like in the old Lakshmipuram shala. Thanks Sheshadri and Harish.

My experience of intensive daily Ashtanga practice, for three months, with Sheshadri and his son Harish, at PAVY shala (Pantanjali Ashatanga Vinyasa Yoga shala) has been just wonderful! Something I want to repeat in the near future. I've been a committed Ashtanga practitioner, in the tradition of Sri Patthabi Jois, for many years (having practiced with such teachers as Mark and Joanne Darby, Manju Jois, Prem&Radha in Bali, David Swenson, David Williams and Kristina Karitinou). I've been dreaming of practicing here in Mysore, the birthplace of this tradition. For this trip to Mysore, some Ashtangi friends of mine had highly recommended practicing with Sheshadri, whose new shala is now conveniently located in Gokulam. In the very first days of practice with Sheshadri and Harish, I was convinced that I was very lucky to have found this shala, and that practicing with them is a real blessing. This early conviction has just grown stronger during the three months I've spent in Gokulam. Sheshadri is a very experimented teacher, who started practicing when he was in his early twentys, and who has dedicated his whole life to traditional yoga, practicing first with BKS Iyengar for two years in Puna, then for three years with Sri Patthabi Jois in Mysore, and then with his guru BNS Iyengar. He started teaching in the 1990s and taught at the Mysore Yoga Mandala from 2001 to 2008, before opening his own shala near Lakshmi Puram. He also taught his son Harish, who in his early 20s decided to dedicate his life to learning and teaching yoga. What is notable about PAVY shala (or Patanjali shala, for short), and that I like very much, is that it is relatively small, which allows Sheshadri and Harish to give a lot of attention to each student. This is an essential part of their approach to teaching yoga. During my stay, most of the time we were between 3 and 7 students practicing, alternating one day under the supervision of Sheshadri and one day with Harish. This said, for a period of about two weeks at the end of January, there was a workshop when the shala filled to full capacity, with about 22 students. During that workshop, both Sheshadri and Harish were helping with adjustments. During my practice, I have witnessed them helping total beginners as well as very advanced practicioners, tending to their respective needs. To me Sheshadri is a magician of the human body! Needless to say that I highly recommend Patanjali shala to any serious Ashtanga practicioner, especially practicioners who may be a bit wary of practicing in overcrowded shalas where they receive little attention from the teacher. When I first practiced with Sheshadri and Harish, I had a feel of what it might have been like for early students of Patthabhi Jois to practice in close proximity to him!
