GoogleGonçalo is a wonderful Ashtanga teacher. He’s very patient and gentle, and he works with students of all levels. Also his space is so beautiful and clean, filled with natural light. His classes fill but the studio is spacious, totaling three levels. I’m a yoga teacher from the US, and I was so happy to find an Authorized teacher during my time in Lisbon.
I spent a week practicing at Ashtanga Yoga Tree when visiting Lisbon. Gonçalo is a great and very knowledgeable teacher who pays a lot of attention to detail, he taught me a lot in just a few days. The studio space is also beautiful and spacious.
I spent two weeks learning Yoga from Gonçalo in lisbon in Ashtangha Yoga Tree the last month, and it was a really helpful and memorial learning experience. Gonçalo is a very experienced teacher, his corrections make a lot of intuitive sense. The LED classes are also good even though I can't do it all, but the tempo and pace feels very right. The vibe at the yoga shala in general is pristine, there are beautiful plants everywhere, and it's very spacious, and clean. The other yogis are sincere and dedicated practitioners and it's very inspiring to see them doing advanced poses. There are very meditative electric tampura music played in the background during the sessions, and it made the space feel so ... mystical, I felt I was very focused in the practice, entered a really meditative place with Yoga.
Gonçalo has been my yoga teacher since 3 years ago and I can't imagine going anywhere else in Lisbon. He is gentle, patient and very knowledgeable in Ashtanga and physio health. Most importantly Gonçalo has genuine concerns for students' growth and wellbeing. Many times he adjusted my yoga poses while I was recovering from physical injuries. I also appreciate the flexibility of this true Mysore style Ashtanga yoga school, where both self-paced and group-led practices are offered to suit individual preferences.
I recently had the pleasure of attending an Ashtanga class at Ashtanga Yoga Tree in Portugal, and it was nothing short of transformative. From the moment I stepped into the serene studio, I felt an immediate sense of calm and focus, perfectly setting the tone for the practice ahead. The space itself is thoughtfully designed, creating an environment that encourages both introspection and growth. The teaching was absolutely exceptional. The instructor’s deep knowledge of Ashtanga yoga was evident from the outset, but what truly stood out was the personalized attention each student received. Whether you were a seasoned practitioner or new to Ashtanga, the guidance was tailored to your level, ensuring that everyone could deepen their practice at their own pace. The adjustments were gentle yet precise, helping to refine each posture while maintaining a flow that felt both challenging and meditative. What made the experience even more special was the emphasis on the breath and the philosophical underpinnings of the practice. The teacher beautifully wove in elements of yogic philosophy, reminding us that Ashtanga is not just about the physical postures but a holistic approach to life. This integration of mind, body, and spirit left me feeling incredibly grounded and inspired. Overall, my experience at Ashtanga Yoga Tree in Portugal was extraordinary. The combination of expert instruction, a supportive environment, and a deep respect for the tradition of Ashtanga made this class one of the best I’ve ever attended. I left feeling rejuvenated, centered, and eager to return. If you’re in Portugal and have the opportunity to practice here, I highly recommend it—you won’t be disappointed!
